"Lillian Mary Elder attended North Texas State Normal for two years and received her teaching certificate in 1921. She taught school at Caddo Mills for two years and returned to school at Denton, Texas. Lillian Mary Elder taught school in Graham, Texas in 1922. She was hired in Marfa, Texas in 1923 to teach public school music. In 1924, she spent the summer at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1925, she taught another year in Marfa, in 1926 she taught one year at Whitewright and in 1927, she taught one year at Pilot Point.
Lillian Mary Elder received her Bachelor's degree from Sul Ross State University. After her marriage, she made her home in Marfa, Texas."
