Freeland Charles "Chuck" Anderson entered into eternal joy of heaven on April 7, 2016.
During his lifetime, Chuck proudly served his country as a member of the Merchant Marines and as an Idaho State Trooper. He married Donelda "Donna" Johnson on June 9, 1947. He was the proud father of four sons - Steve, Dan, Craig, and Jack. Chuck and Donna settled in King Hill, Idaho, operated the Anderson General Store, and eventually retired to Nampa, Idaho. Chuck is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Cheryl and Jack and Becky. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Marcia Anderson; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Andrea and Donald Blakely and Donna and Jim Reinking. Chuck also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were blessed to call him Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, and his sons, Dan and Steve. Chuck loved the Lord, his family and his country. The family wishes to thank Genesis Health Care in Meridian and Harrison's Hope Hospice for their loving care and kindness this past year.
Chuck and Donna were married June 9, 1947. They came to Idaho soon after and Chuck's job as an Idaho State Trooper brought them to King Hill, Idaho. Four little boys were born in quick order - Steve, Dan, Craig and Jack. Later, they bought the King Hill General Store and it was a busy place with groceries, gas pumps, a park and a beauty salon. As boys will do, the sons grew up and brought daughters-in-law into the family. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren followed.
Chuck and Donna's home was filled often with family, laughter and delicious food. Donna's Thanksgiving dinners were greatly anticipated the entire year. Chuck and Donna opened their home and hearts to their neighbors and friends. They were generous and loving and kind.
After moving to Nampa in 1994, Chuck embraced retirement whole-heartedly. Donna's days were filled with quilting and crafts, family and friends. Chuck enjoyed taking daily walks with Donna. They walked together on Sunday mornings to church. They were devoted to one another their entire marriage.
They were preceded in death by their sons, Dan and Steve, and we know they missed them every day. Chuck is survived by his sisters, Andrea (Donald) Blakely and Donna (Jim) Reinking. Donna is survived by her sister, Dorothy Harrison. Chuck and Donna leave behind their son, Craig and his wife Cheryl; their son, Jack and his wife Becky; and daughter-in-law, Marcia. They are also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Many friends and extended family will miss them them also.
In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to your favorite charity . That would please Chuck and Donna. In keeping with their wishes, a family service will be held at a later date and their ashes will be spread together.
God gives us each the gift of life
To cherish from our birth
He gives us friends and those we love
To share our days on earth,
He watches us with loving care
and takes us by the hand,
He blesses us with countless joys
And guides the lives we've planned,
Then when our work on earth is done
He calls us to His side
To live with Him in happiness
Where peace and love abide.
