POQUOSON - Richard Frank "Dick" Zasimowich, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2016, surrounded by family. A native of Edgeley, North Dakota, Dick was a resident of Poquoson for 59 years. He retired from NASA after 37 years of devoted service. Dick also served our country in the Navy Reserves where he retired after 40 years. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows Hall, Good Neighbors, and Commissioner of Poquoson Youth Football in the 1970s. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Archie Zasimowich; mother, Dorothy Vernon; brother, Donald Zasimowich; and sister, Reva Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine Insley Zasimowich; four sons, Bryan "Moe" (Veronica "Roni"), Gerald "Zac" (Sherrie), Paul (Melissa), and Miles (Danette); twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman Vernon, Sonny Vernon, and Eugene Vernon; and sister, Inez Face. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29, 6:30-8:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Celebration of Dick's life will be led by Pastor Buddy Chapman and Pastor George V. Insley Jr., Wednesday, March 30, 2:00 PM, at the funeral home, with full military honors. At other times the family will receive friends at 15 Evans Grove Road, Poquoson. Burial will be private at a later date.
