Born Nov. 16, 1905 in Makawao, Maui, Hawaii, she was a resident of Carlsbad for 76 years. She taught elementary school first in Carlsbad then Oceanside; she was a Camp Fire Girls Leader and later a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 5 years she volunteered for the Red Cross and later because a paid case worker. Unusual plants and gardens were a life-long interest. She was a a church member all her life.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, Allan O. Kelly who died on April 3, 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law W. Allan and Dede Kelly of Carlsbad; daughter and son-in-law Lucia and Marvin Sippel of Carlsbad; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Lois Larson of Albuquerque, N.M.; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-granchildren.
