Agnes ‘Baba’ Wise, 90, of Columbia, went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 11, 2016. Born in Fort Smith, Ark., she was a daughter of the late Charles Clarence and Agnes Bain Thornton Delaney.

A child of the Depression, Agnes spent her early years in and around Charleston, Ark. After marrying Sidney Wise, she moved to South Carolina, and spent the next 65 years raising children and spreading her love from the Columbia area. Baba Wise loved every living thing.

Agnes’ greatest wish was that every living being that has the breath of life would be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. She wants everyone to know and love our heavenly Father, and spend eternity rejoicing in His majesty.

Baba is reunited in heaven with her one true love and beloved husband, Sidney Lee Wise; son, Walter Winston Wise; brother, Charles Delaney; sister-in-law, Pat Delaney; sister, Rosalie Little; brother-in-law, Jim Little; nephew, Andrew Little; brother-in-law, Delbert Ervin; and many beloved pets.

Baba is survived by her loving children, including her son, Sid Wise; daughter, Charlotte Delaney Wise of Columbia; son, Marcus Bain Wise (Joyce) of Kingston, Tenn.; daughter, Olivia Wise Kennedy (Paul) of Blythewood; daughter, Terry Wise Hart (Doug) of Gilbert; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Belle Ervin of Charleston, Ark.; brother, Samuel Thomas Delaney (Pat) of Chapin; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia. Pastor Dennis Banks will be officiating the service. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, one’s local animal shelter, or to Unto Me International. Many thanks for memorials from Baba’s family.
