Mrs. Leota Aileen Decarsky was born in Leavenworth, Kan., the third of eight children. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1943. After she married Mr. Tomp Decarsky, they settled in Wichita. Growing up during the depression, Mrs. Decarsky learned at an early age the value of a dollar and of a good education. Although she never attended college, she encouraged and supported her younger siblings, three of whom graduated from WSU.
