Mrs. Bettie Elizabeth Wesson, daughter of Joseph C. and Nancy Caroline Ireland Hunt, was born October 20, 1874 in Travis County. She moved to Bastrop County at an early age and lived in what was then known as Colorado Chapel Community. She was married to J.S. Wesson, Dec. 6, 1893. They moved to Elgin about 1900 and lived in that area until her death. She was the mother of nine children, three proceeding her in death, Marvin (1965), Willard (1967), and Sadie (1915). Surviving children: Thomas P. Wesson, El Paso; Blanche Bailey, Alice; Mildred Reeves, Amarillo; Maggie Whitten, Elgin; Lena Hardman and Carolyn Leming, Temple.
