Arnold Holinger, former swiss consul in Chicago and former president of the mortgage bond house which bears his name, died yesterday at his residence, 933 Galt avenue. He was 76 years old. Funeral arrangements are not complete.
Mr. Holinger was born July 20, 1849, in Switzerland. He emigrated to Chicago in 1869 and became a teacher in the first German high school. He entered the employ of the Union National bank, becoming the assistant manager of the foreign exchange department. Sixteen years later he resigned to establish the firm of A Holinger & Co.
Mr. Holinger is survived by a son, Arnold C. Holinger, and five daughters, Mrs. Clara Manz, Sophie Mannhardt, Ida Week, Alma Teschan, and Elsa Holinger. [ Chicago Tribune - 7 Jul 1925, page 12]
