WALTER OWENS

Services for Walter Owens were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday at the Mt, Moriah Baptist Church near Holly Springs, Miss. Rev. Ottis Hilburn officiated with burial in the church cemetery under direction of Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mr. Owens, age 70, died Tuesday at a Jackson, Miss. hospital after an illness of several months. He was born in Marshall County near Holly Springs, where he had lived his entire life. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mattie Roach Owens, Six sons, Walter E., Grover and Hubert Owens of Holly Springs, Miss., Paul and Jessie Owens of Memphis, Tenn. and Travis Owens of Chicago, Ill. Four daughters, Mrs. Harvie Guyse of Ripley, Miss., Mrs. Prentiss Shaw and Mrs. L. D. Bailey of Holly Springs, Miss. and Mrs. Austin Dempsey of Louisville, Miss., and one brother, Hunter Owens of Lyon, Miss. Also survived by thirty-four grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
