Charles P. Porter, 75, of Palmyra, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at his home. Charles was born February 19, 1941 in Shelby County, Missouri to Victor C. and Ruby Smith Porter. Survivors include:daughters: Tracy (Randy) Helms of Hannibal; Tiffany Church of Palmyra; grandchildren: Rhylee Helms of Hannibal; Lillie and Lydia Church of Palmyra; brother, Bob Porter of St. Charles, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, VC Porter. Charles was a 1959 graduate of Palmyra High School. He later served in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. Mr. Porter was a retired pattern-maker who worked for both Central Pattern and Midwest Pattern both of Quincy, Illinois. He was a member NRA and the Cloverleaf Saddle Club. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed working in his garden, target practicing, and going fishing. Also, he like to read and keep up on current events. His passion was spending time with his girls, growing up, going to horse shows. He was a very compassionate person to everyone he knew, especially his family and granddaughters. He was a Christian by faith. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Rev. Dewayne Larenson will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Missouri Humane Society and/or Mark Twain Lake deer hunt for disabled persons
