US Congressman. In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and to the seven succeeding Congresses serving until 1931. He also served as special assistant to the Attorney General of the United States from 1889 to 1912, and was in charge of the prosecution cases of the Standard Oil Company and certain railroad companies.
