Leila Young Boswell passed away April 17, 2016. She was born December 6, 1915 at the family farm on the Young Mountain in Coryell County, Texas. She was the eldest daughter of Guy Morton and Jeffie Blackwell Young. Leila was the granddaughter of James Ivy and Mary Young, early settlers to Coryell County from Georgia. From an early age she helped on the farm; milking, picking cotton and driving a team of horses in the fields.
In 1938, she married Paul Samuel Boswell and they had three daughters. Mom was always a feisty lady, full of energy. She and Paul raised a beautiful garden each year that she preserved for her family. Mom was a very talented seamstress, sewing everything from curtains to wedding dresses. She started playing piano at an early age, strictly by ear, able to play any song she heard.
After Paul's death she remained very independent, living alone until age 96. Mom was still dancing at age 85 and wearing high heels until she was 90. She was a very special and much loved person to her family and friends. She will always live in our hearts and the love and care she gave will be treasured in our memories.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; daughter Nancy Boswell Hodges; and all of her siblings. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Yarbrough and husband Carlton and Sharee Reed and husband Steve; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for our mother during the past few years.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
