Dear Carol,

I received your email via a contact at St James Episcopal Church in Warrenton, VA, where George Sloane was buried.

The initial report by his obit was in error in his interment location.

According to the Fauquier County Tombstone Inscription book he is buried in Warrenton Cemetery, not Baldwin Ridge Cemetery as Find A Grave is showing.

I confirmed this via the tombstone inscription book in the library in Warrenton, and a personal visit to Baldwin Ridge cemetery, where there are very few graves, few with names, no Sloane in the cemetery, and all existing markers predate his death.

I have not had time to check with the county clerk's office as to his plot location in Warrenton Cemetery. I have photographed many markers there, so if you need a photo, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

The clerk's office has a cemetery book with the names, dates and plot locations that is available for public viewing on site.

Also, for anyone with Ancestry.com access, George Sloane's death certificate is online.

Sincerely,

Al Cline
Warrenton VA
