A native of Clyde, N.C., he was the son of the late Anderson and Amanda Carver Sanford.
He was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and was retired from Torrington Co., Tyger River Plant. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Pearl Tucker Sanford; a daughter, Marie S. Farmer of Enoree; a son, James A. Sanford of Buffalo; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Shelton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.
