Winslow Gist Field, Sr., 82, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, in the comfort of his home. He was born on April 28, 1933 in Redlands, California and had been a resident of Sulphur for 62 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked with the Council on Aging in Calcasieu and Sabine Parishes and worked part-time as a cook at Frasch Park in Sulphur. Winslow retired as an oil field cook with Mallard Drilling after many years of service. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rose Mary Field; sons, Michael Field and wife, Mary Jane and Winslow Field Jr. and wife, Michelle; daughters, Margaret Decker and husband, Bill and Eve Gellner and husband, Guy; special friends, Janie Miller and Scott Landry; sister, Diann Anderson and husband, Ron; two grandsons; three granddaughters; seven great-granddaughters; two step-grandsons; three stepgreat-grandsons and two stepgreat-granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, Florence Field and Richard Watts Field and a sister, Margret Austin. Cremation was entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Ebarb, Louisiana. Mr. Field has requested that no services be held. The family would like to give special thanks to Dorothy Thibodeaux, Dr. Schlamp and his associates, as well as Christus St. Patrick Hospice for their excellent care of Winslow.
