Robert Lawrence Odom, 55, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at his home.

Born December 13, 1950, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Robert Ray Odom of Spartanburg and the late Mary Les (Betts) Odom.

He attended Presbyterian College and Montreat-Anderson College and was the owner of Odom Hardware and Knives for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, founder of the Greater Carolina Hosta Society, past president of the Cross Flags Corvette Club, a Master Gardener, and a member of the Men's Garden Club.

Surviving in addition to his father is his wife, Nancy Susan (Riser) Odom; two sons, C. Chad Odom and his wife Lisa of Poplar Springs, and Robert M. Odom of Atlanta, GA; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Neil M. Yongue, Jr., the Rev. Tommy Sparks, and Dr. Duren Johnson, Jr.

A Celebration of Life reception was held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Poston Hall, following the service.

Pallbearers were Dan Arrowood, Dr. Duren Johnson, Jr., Sam Wilensky, Dan Patton, and Ray Dent. Honorary Escort were members of the Cross Flags Corvette Club. The members of the Club were asked to meet at 1:30 PM at the Cemetery for a procession.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Spartanburg Children Shelter, P. O. Box 2663, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
