He is survived by his girlfriend Courtney Shoopman, son Jake, 8 months, his mother and father, brother Michael Sowers, and sister Shelby Smith, stepfather Terry O'Tool, grandmother Ardeth Criswell. Proceeding him in death are his grandmother Mona Etchison, grandfather Robert L. Smith and step-grandfather Marvin Criswell and cousin Aaron Stoner.
