Betty Lu Craig Smith, 71, of Mt. Morris, died at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born Saturday, July 1, 1944, in Mt. Morris, a daughter of the late Claude and Daisy Craig.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the James T. Maxon American Legion Post #992 Aux and the Sportsman Club both of Mt. Morris. She enjoyed cooking, baking and collecting cook books. She had worked as a nurse at both the Greene Co. Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg and the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She is survived by her husband, Edward O "Eddy" Smith, whom she married on March 28, 1990.
Also surviving are three daughters, Angel (Doug) Rollyson, of Westerville, Ohio, Kim Dawson, of Waynesburg and Susan Hollabaugh, of Uniontown; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; three sisters, Margaret Nutter, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Gladys Fox, of Westover, West Virginia and Sandra Burnswick, of Fairmont, West Virginia; one brother, Gary Craig, of Mannington, West Virginia; two half sisters, Judy and Patricia; one half brother, Greg and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one grandson, J.D. Dawson; one sister, Jane Craig and six brothers, George Craig, Raymond Craig, William Craig, Robert Craig, Phil Craig and Ross Craig.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, where services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016, with Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating.
Private burial will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, West Virginia at a later date.
The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
