Throughout her long period of suffering four daughters have faithfully attended her every want and for several weeks had hardly left the bed side of their suffering mother. Both the Woman's Relief Corps and Daughters of Rebekah's of which deceased was a member, tendered kindly their assistance and for two weeks past furnished night watches to assist the family in caring for their mother.
Mrs Abbott will be sadly missed by many friends and acquaintances as well as a worker in the church and other social organizations. As a member of the Presbyterian church she had taken an active part in temperance as well as all other reform work and was always foremost in the promotion of the same. Ever ready and willing to assist others she was well repaid at the end by the many kindnesses shown herself and family both previous to and upon her death bed.
The funeral occurred at 3 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, from the Presbyterian church, where a large number of friends assembled to pay their last tributes of respect to their departed friend and neighbor. The Woman's Relief Corps attended in a body. Rev John Sinclair conducted the services after which the remains were interred in the Redwood Falls cemetery.
Mrs Clara M Abbott was born in Vermont September 13, 1842. Her maiden name was Clara May Durfee and on November 17, 1863 she was married to W L Abbott.
Five children are left to mourn her death; Misses Mira, Susie and Grace, Mrs L G Buxton and W L Abbott who had hardly left his mother until he was recalled by her death.
Eight years ago W L Abbott sr., and the family took up their residence in this city. Mr Abbott for several years was in charge of the REVEILLE. The family removed to St Paul about two years ago where Mr Abbott's death occurred. Then Mrs Abbott returned and has survived her husband about one and one-half years.
