John's parents were Thomas Henry (1705-) and Elizabeth SISSION Raines(1710-1773. He married Amy GOODWYN Raines January 14, 1762, in Sussex County, VA. They had five known children and they were: Robert Raines, "RWS" (m. Sarah Hamilton, Cadwallader Raines (m. Lucretia Parham), Thomas Raines, "RWS" II (m. Sarah "Sally" Abercrombie), Amy Goodwyn Raines (m. Robert Stewart) & John Russell b 1785. Captain John is on the 1790 census in Greenville County, SC & the 1810 census in Giles County,VA. Some researchers believe he died in 1788.John Raine was twenty-eight when he married Susannah Mitchel on August 3, 1754.

Nathaniel Raine (b.1757 d.1822)
Mary Ann Raine (b.1760 d.1845)

They had been married about six years and their youngest child was about one year old when Susannah died.

Marriage record revealed John Raine and Mrs Keziah Cocke married on December 23 1761 in Cumberland County, Virginia.

John was thirty-five and Keziah (Anderson) was about twenty when they married.

John lived to age 60.Patriot John R. Raines dit Raine served in the Revoluntary War. He was Gentleman Justice of Cumberland and High Sheriff of Cumberland, VA.
