J.B. was born in Florida and raised in South Carolina. In the 1930's he joined the CCC corps and sent home money to his family each month. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 as a corpsman and served in the pacific campaign on Tinian Island in the Northern Marianas. After WWII he was assigned with the Army occupational troops in Japan, living in Kofu. He went to Fort Huachuca Arizona and entered the Counter Intelligence Corps (Army CIC). J.B. spent 6 years in two rotations to West Germany as a agent for the CIC. He was scheduled to go to Korea with his CIC detachment in the 1950's but missed the movement because of the miscarriage of his 3rd child. After retirement from the Army he worked in civil service as a CIC agent and later worked for the IRS as an internal securities agent in Atlanta Georgia. Before final retirement, J.B. was the Southeastern Security Manager for Gordon Jewelry Company in Houston Texas, and as a free-lance polygraph examiner for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and other private companies.
J.B. died from natural causes in Saluda South Carolina at the age of 85.
