Bertha Friar, 88, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, April 21, 2016, at her residence.
Mrs. Friar, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Lee (Murray) Allen, was born November 15, 1927, in Doniphan. She had retired as a machine operator with Vitronics Manufacturing in Doniphan. Mrs. Friar was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God and had a special love of flowers.
On February 1, 1947, she was married to Joe Friar in Piggott, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1981.
Surviving are 6 children: Sondra (and Steve) Gallion, Harry Friar, Sarah Eyster, Randy Friar, and Jody (and Alice) Friar, all of Doniphan; and Allen (and Becky) Friar of Madison, Alabama; 1 sister, Grace Headley of St. Peters, Missouri; 2 brothers, George Allen and James Allen, both of Doniphan; and 8 grandchildren, Justin, John, Allison, Alexandrea, Jessica, Josie, Nathaniel and Morgan.
Also preceding her in death were 2 sisters, Etta Mae Allen Rainbolt and Anna Adams; 3 brothers, Charlie Allen, Lawrence Allen and William H. Allen; and one grandson, Jerry Lee.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, April 24, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Monday morning, April 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Doniphan.
