Leonard Asa Gardner
Leonard was born October 10, 1885 in Ridgeway, Missouri to Fredrick William Gardner and Lucinda Ray. He spent his childhood years in Harrison County, Missouri where he met and married on May 15, 1909 Bessie Lucretia Webb also of Harrison County.
Their first two children, Fred and Doris, were born in Harrison County. It was after 1915 that Asa began moving around to find work. He wound up in Cimarron, Kansas where two more of children were born, Ken and Estelle. Around 1923 the family moved to Topeka, Kansas and that is where Lucy was born. The family finally settled in St. Joseph, Missouri around 1926. Asa and Bessie attempted to have two more children but they were lost prematurely in infancy.
Asa passed away on November 23, 1960 in St. Joseph, Missouri and is buried at the St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery.
