He was born January 12, 1932, in Erwin, TN, the son of the late Jesse and Anna Mae (Griffith) Peterson. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death in 2007 by his son, Jimmy Engle, and by his two brothers, Arnold and Dwight Peterson.
Pete was employed for thirty-two years as a roller for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. After his retirement, he was a "jack of all trades", performing small jobs for others. He also enjoyed woodworking and was known for decorating his home for Christmas. Pete was a member of the Wellsville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 772.
Survivors include his wife, Ferne (Waugh) Peterson, whom he married October 4, 1971; four daughters: Marsha Casey and her husband, Bobby, of Erwin, TN, Patty McAdoo and her fiancé, Matthew Rose, of Wellsville, Teresa Latynski of Wellsville, and Beverly Pucci and her husband, Victor, of Wellsville; and one son: Donnie Engle and his fiancée, Barbara Van Zant, of Wellsville. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
