Earl S. Lyman, 85, of Bucks Corners Road, Saranac, NY, passed away on Friday April 22, 2016 at his home with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Dannemora, NY on February 15, 1931 the son of Ernest and Norma (Tedford) Lyman.
Earl grew up in Saranac and married Elizabeth “Betty” Carter on May 24, 1957.
He worked at Clinton Correctional Facility for over 30 years as motor equipment supervisor. Earl was a volunteer fire fighter for the Saranac Fire Dept. He often could be found doing things that made him happy, which was working in his garage, gardening, wood working and spending time with his family. Earl also would go out of his way to help anyone and even complete strangers in need.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, his siblings; Mary “Sunny” Drollette, Mildred Thompson, Sarah Beauchmin, Marjorie White and Russell Lyman.
Earl is survived by two children; Greg Lyman of Saranac, NY and Jeannine Burgess and her husband Gerald of Tucson, AZ, and a grandson Jake Forston, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 9:00 am at Saranac Independence Cemetery in Saranac, NY.
