Karen D. Abbott-Lahey, 65, of Findlay passed away at 2:35 am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Birchaven Care Center in Findlay from multiple myeloma. She was born on May 3, 1950 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Lester and Mildred (Scherer) Bechtol. Karen married Barney Lahey in Sept. 1995, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1995. Also preceding her in death was an infant brother: Rodney; brother: Robert K. Bechtol and infant grandson: Ayden Abbott. She is survived by a son: Nicholas (Goldie) Abbott of Findlay and granddaughters: Abbigale and Addalyn Abbott. She has a sister: Sandra (Mark) Nelson of Coshocton, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law: Tony and Cindy Lahey of Findlay; nieces: Jacqueline (Gregg) Moorhead, Susan (Mark) Brumbaugh, Nicole (Austin Gerten) Lahey, Nathan (Jess Wiesner) Lahey, Dustin (Tammy) Jones, Katrina Laird; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Bechtol-Arnold as well as several great nieces and nephews. Karen was employed by the former Ohio Power Co. in Coshocton and North Canton. In 1975, she hired on with Marathon Oil Co. and worked in several capacities there during her working career. During that time she earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting, business administration and marketing from Findlay College. She retired from Marathon in 2008. She participated in Meals on Wheels, clothe a child and was a guardian/volunteer in the Guardianship Program. Karen was a very giving and caring person and a loyal friend who knew no strangers. She was an avid traveler and shopper and loved music of all kinds. She took her beloved "Bear" with her on many travels near and far. She was also a member of the Findlay Moose. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church Downtown. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
