Crossed the Oregon Trail in 1843; settled on Puget Sound in 1846 with his brother Nathan Eaton. Veteran of the Cayuse War and Captain of "Eaton's Rangers" during Puget Sound Indian-Settler War of 1855-56.

Spouse was Kalakala, daughter of Chief Leschi.

Relocated to Yakima City [now Union Gap] in 1870.
