Mr. Richard (Dick) Joseph Baldwin, 74, of Frederick, Maryland died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his residence after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Dean Baldwin for more than 50 years.

Born March 29, 1942 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Wilbur G. and Marie J. (Falter) Baldwin.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children, Michael Baldwin and husband Jorge Wilson Patino of South Orange, New Jersey and Andrea Wilt and husband Jeff of Hagerstown, Maryland, grandchildren Ethan and Anna Wilt, sisters Nancy Stiegler and husband Ron of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Tina McGinn and husband John of Sykesville, Maryland and Kathy Dykes of Hilton Head, South Carolina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dick studied finance at the University of Maryland, College Park, where both of his children also graduated. He was a founding member of Western Pennsylvania National Bank in the secured lending division. He continued in the banking industry for more than 40 years, retiring from Maryland National Bank in 1999.

After retirement he moved to Frederick, Maryland to be closer to his beloved grandchildren where he perfected his role as Pop-Pop.  It is here that he also became a constant and much-loved volunteer for the people he served at the Mission of Mercy, a faith-based community organization that provides free medical services to those who don't have access to the traditional healthcare system.

Dick also spent many hours at the Fitness First gym, where his family always teased that he did far more talking with his friends than walking on the treadmill.

Some of his best memories are of his travels including annual summer beach trips with family as well as pilgrimages to Rome and Assisi, Italy, Lourdes, France, the Holy Lands, and the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Alabama.

He was also a daily communicant at St. John's Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Arif Hussain and his staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore for their years of tireless and dedicated treatment as Dick battled prostate cancer.  Special thanks also to the nurses at Frederick County hospice for their loving care in Dick's last days.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, on Friday, April 29, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701. Father Stephen Gosnell will officiate. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
