In 1930 she and her husband and their four children lived in a house they owned at 230 Rodgers Avenue in Johnstown, PA. Their home was valued at $3500, and they did have a radio. He worked as an electrician for an electrical store.

In 1940 she and Kenneth and six of their children--all but Dorothy--lived there. Their home was valued at only $2000 after the Great Depression. Her husband worked as an electrician on contract building, with an income in 1939 of $1400 for 35 weeks of work. Son Kenneth worked as a truck driver for a retail electric shop, with an income in 1939 of $80 for eight weeks of work.
