Stephen Subal, Hazle Village, died Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, where he had been a patient the past eight days. Born in Milnesville, he resided in Hollywood for a short time before moving to Hazle Village, where he resided for the past 28 years. The son of the late Andrew and Mary (Orendash) Subal, he was a member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Slovak Church. He had been employed by the Correale Construction Co., Hazleton, and belonged to the UMW of America.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Sabolchick); two sons, Richard, Hazleton; and Maurice, Glendale, Calif.; a brother, James, Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Al (Anna) Korba, Hazleton; Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Petrosky, Hazleton, and Mrs. Michael (Susan) Kanuck, Ayer, Mass.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Remenar.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, 480 W. Broad St., at 10:15 a.m. with a requiem high mass at 10:45 in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Slovak Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
