Clara enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Department of Education. She taught briefly at Nanaikapono School, before becoming vice-principal at Kapalama School and then Lincoln School. She moved on to serve for 10 years as principal of Wailupe Valley School, before retiring in 1979. She was an active member of Soroptimist International of Honolulu. In retirement, Clara continued to enjoy visiting her family, traveling, reading, and keeping up with her favorite sports teams.
She is survived by daughter Karlene Gulick (Thomas); grandchildren Thomas Gulick, Carrie Hastings (Charles), Nancy Wiens (Gregory); great-grandchildren George and Koa Hastings, Tristan and Kai Wiens; brother Earl Kim; nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her desire to continue teaching, she is a participant in the University of Hawaii Medical School's Willed Body Program. Private Services.
