Jewell Stewart Allen Thornton, age 80, died October 26, 1990.

Born March 19, 1910 in Logan, Utah, to James Carson Allen Jr. and Agness Matilda Stewart Allen. Married Carlos James Thornton in Salt Lake City on August 23, 1941. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was serving as a Spanish Record Extractor at the time of her death. Jewell was a member of the Maria Wood Robinson D.U.P. Camp. She served as first counselor on the South Davis Board of the D.U.P. and became corresponding secretary on the Central Company under Kate B. Carter. She was also a Past President of the Bountiful Lady Lions.

Survivors include: three sons and one daughter, Dean Carlos, Salt Lake City; Virden James, Avon Lake, Ohio; Gaylen Allen, Sandy; Karla Ann, Bountiful; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. William B. (Norma) York, St. George.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful 28th Ward Chapel 2285 South 200 West. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel, 295 North Main and Tuesday at the church 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
