Muriel was descended from Elijah and Frances Ganner, one of the pioneering families of Nanaimo, and was the third of 4 daughters born to William Henry Ganner and Doris Irene Fox. On Aug 7, 1943 Muriel married the love of her life, Harry 'Ray' Simpson, and they remained together until her death.
Muriel enjoyed camping and family reunions as well as being a member of the Native Daughters of BC.
She was survived by her husband, 4 children and their spouses, numerous grand and great grandchildren, as well as her sisters and their spouses and their families.
