Ione G. Much, age 94, of Shiocton passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
On Sunday, November 25, 1928, the first daughter of Conrad & Gertrude (Meier) Barth was born to a family of two older brothers on a farm northwest of Greenwood, WI, which would later on add five more brothers and sisters to make a family of eight children.
At the age of seventeen, Ione moved to Appleton to live near an aunt and uncle and to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a nurse's aide. As every young person did after World War II, Ione and girlfriends would head to Cinderella Ballroom to dance and meet friends. There is where she met our dad Ralph E. Much. They were married on July 5, 1950 and shared a life of fishing, hunting, gardening, card playing and working hard every day.
Ione is survived by her two daughters, Sudy (LeRoy) Groeschel and Nancy (David) Kriesel; grandchildren, Sara (Eric) Defferding, Kelly (Jesse) Mallmann, Matthew (Rachel) Groeschel and Tina (Logan) Gorges; eight great-grandchildren, Ayla & Hazel Groeschel, Elise & Amaya Mallmann and James, Temperance, Elwood and Ford Gorges. Also surviving Ione are two sisters, Donna Hein and Trudy Hollfelder; two brothers, Fred Barth and Edwin (Kathie) Barth and sister-in-law, Esther Barth, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and God children.
Ione was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Leonard (Angie) Barth, Conrad (Lorrie) Barth and Robert Barth and sister-in-law, Nancy Barth.
The funeral service for Ione will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Stephensville with Rev. Joel Lilo officiating. The visitation will take place form 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
