Chicopee, April 27 - Charles E. Baker, 91, of 384 Chicopee street, died this morning of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born in Savoy, January 18, 1851, and came to live in Chicopee in 1872. He was one of the oldest residents of Chicopee and on his 91st birthday, he was presented with a cane by the First Congregational church.

He was one of the oldest officials in continuous office in Chicopee, having served in some capacity since Chicopee was a town. He was election officer for ward 3 for many years.

He leaves two sons, Arthur G. of Prescott, Ariz. and Raymond H. Baker of Chicopee and a daughter, Linda C. Baker, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body may be seen at the Grise funeral home until Thursday noon. The funeral will be held at the First Congregational church Thursday afternoon at 3:30.

Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
