Albert E. Brittain, 95, of Costner Road, died February 8, 2000 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born June 19, 1904 in Burke County, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Brittain.

A member of First Baptist Church in Hildebran, he retired from M. G. Crouch Lumber Company, and a former owner of Brittain's Florist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Texie Whitener Brittain, a son, Conrad Brittain; five brothers, and a sister.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law , Richard H. and Brenda Brittain of Hickory; a brother, Conley Brittain of Hildebran; four grandsons, Alex Brittain of Hildebran; Jeff Brittain of Fuquay Varina; Kevin Brittain of Rutherford College, and Rodney Harris of Hickory; two granddaughters, Jenny Travis of Claremont and Tamara Golding of Charlottesville, VA; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald Arndt at 11 a.m. today at his church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Alex Brittain, Kevin Brittain, Rodney Harris, Jeff Brittain, John Travis, and Larry Huffman.
