Joseph A. Hirschfelt, 86, passed away Friday, October 2, 1998.

He was born in Russia, coming the the U.S. and Akron in 1912.

He retired as a truck driver from Gardner Pie Co. in 1974 with 25 years service. After his retirement he spent many years driving school bus for St. Francis de Sales and Coventry Schools. He was a member of Knights of St. John Commandry 6 and St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Army serving in World War II.

Mr. Hirschfelt was preceded in death by wife Mary.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Rosanne of Akron, Paul and Ladonna of Akron; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and John Hornacek of Akron, Joan and James Dzuris of Va.; brother, Alex (Mary) of Akron; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:30 a.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd., and 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
