Peoria, IL - Kermit A. Burton, 74, of 1413 E. London, formerly of 805 W. Fifth, died at 9:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 1994, at his home.
Born July 25, 1919, in Chicago to Thomas Sr. and Sally Jackson Burton, he married Helen Hyrams on Sept. 15, 1946, in Chicago. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara McCoy and Karen Burton; one brother, Robert; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
He worked as a microbiology technician at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Research Lab, retiring in 1984. He attended Bradley University, where he tutored chemistry. He also tutored math and chemistry for the Tri-County Urban League.
He served in the Army as a technical sergeant. He was a member of the NAACP.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chicago.
