Patrick D. Deuel, 54, of Kearney, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home in Kearney. A celebration of Patrick’s life will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of God, 4310 17th Avenue in Kearney with Pastor Charlie Gable officiating. Burial will be later at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Darren Deuel was born on March 28, 1962, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the child of James W. and Betty Jean Otte. He attended Trinity Lutheran School, and Walnut Junior High. Patrick graduated in 1980 from Grand Island High School. He interests included music, reading, and genealogy. During his High School years, he won numerous awards for music, honors from the Musicians Union of Nebraska and several scholarships. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Central Community College, University of Wyoming- Laramie, and Hastings College. His interest in Genealogy prompted him to take Correspondence Classes from Brigham Young University for Genealogy.

His greatest achievement was receiving the Eagle Scout Award with 3 Palms in 1976. Patrick spent many years in the Food Service field before becoming disabled.

He married Edith Kay Runyan on September 23, 1995 at the Hargis Mansion in Grand Island. The couple lived in Kearney, Alda, Valentine and Alliance before moving back to Kearney. They enjoyed visiting family especially grandchildren and attending the Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, James and Lydia Deuel and Lawrence and Elva Otte; his Mother, Betty Deuel; and his Mother-in-Law, Charlotte Runyan.

He leaves to celebrate His Home Going His Wife, Edith Deuel of Kearney; Father, James Deuel of Grand Island; Stepchildren, Charlotte Hrnchir of Trenton, NE and LeRoy Clinger, Jr. of Claremont, NC.; 5 Grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
