Obituary In Memory of Mary Anne Anderson (May 17, 1930 - March 28, 2016)

Mary Anne Anderson, 85, passed away on March 28, 2016 at Panorama Convalescent facility in Lacey, Washington. She was born on May 17, 1930 in Everett, Washington and was the only child of Jeanne Leontine and Erik W. Anderson. She lived most of her adult life in Seattle, then moved to a Kirkland assisted living home in 2014.

Mary Anne attended school in Everett and then Marysville. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1948 as an Honor Student in her class. High school activities included working on the Quil Ceda year book, Tomahawk newspaper, and participating in Girls Club, Torch Club and Pep Club.

All of her working years were spent in the legal field. Starting in Everett and then moving to Seattle, she worked for several law firms including Ogden Ogden & Murphy. She then became Senior Administrative Secretary on the personal staff of United States District Court Judge William T. Beeks. Mary Anne was also Executive Secretary to United States District Court Judge Donald S. Voorhees. She retired in 1990 after almost 25 years with the court.

Traveling with family and friends she toured in Sweden, Belgium, England, and other European countries. And she visited many U.S. States and Canada. Her favorite place was Maui, and lost count of how many times she went....and stayed for weeks at a time. Besides travel, Mary Anne was an avid crossword puzzle gal, reader of fiction books, enjoyed televised Mariner games, did knitting and cross stitch, attended ballet, theater and symphony performances, and was an masterful cook, trying new recipes and hosting dinners. Her friends/colleagues formed a group they named the "Downtown Ladies" and planned trips, activities, dining out, and party get-togethers. They connected with each other in person, before the age of the internet communicating. Mary Anne was knowledgeable from her travels and reading and could join in conversations on most any topic. Her lanai garden bloomed with flowers and produced green beans and tomatoes.

Mary Anne was laid to rest beside her parents at Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, Washington. A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held, as was her wish.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hyde Shuttle which Mary Anne used to go to her monthly appointments at the Swedish Cancer Center in Seattle.
