Ellen D. Burke, age 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and formerly of King Avenue in Marion, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2006, at the Springs at Boca Clega Bay in South Pasadena, Florida.
She was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, on August 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Don C. and Florence (Martin) Davis.
On May 28, 1943, Ellen married her loving husband of over 62 years, Morgan "Bud" Burke, in Athens, Ohio.
Shortly following her wedding, Ellen graduated from the Ohio University in Athens in 1944, where she was a member of the Alpha Z Sorority.
While in Marion, Ellen was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, the Marion Country Club, and the Women's Hospital Board Twig I.
In 1993, Ellen and Bud moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, and during her time there she was a member of Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club.
In addition to her husband, Ellen will be missed by her daughter Robin (Charles) Leffler of Memphis, TN; son Brent (Lori) Burke of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughter Noelle (David) Dunavant of Memphis, TN; and two great-grandchildren Madison Dunavant and Avery Dunavant.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by one brother.
