Joan L. Michalek, age 85, a resident at Atrium Post Acute Care, formerly Hamilton Home, Two Rivers, passed away Saturday evening, April 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 22, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph and Irma (Flentje) Biel in Two Rivers. On April 30, 1949, Joan married Anton "Tony" Michalek at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1987. She was a Two Rivers resident all of her life and was employed as a production packer with the Mirro Corporation for 28 and a half years until her retirement in 1992. Joan was a former member of the Ladies Aid Society at Our Savior's for several years and also did volunteer work at Hamilton Home in Two Rivers. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: James (Patricia) Michalek, Two Rivers; two daughters: Bonnie Noonan, Whitewater, and Gail Shimulunas, Two Rivers; grandchildren: Mary Jo (Jamie) Dunham, Jimmy (Shelly) Michalek, Cory (Nichole) Noonan, Jammie Noonan, Tony (Katie) Shimulunas; great-grandchildren: Kayla Dunham, Kyle Michalek, Emma Michalek, Lilly Michalek, Evelyn Noonan, Sophia Noonan, Adam Noonan, Quinton Shimulunas and Kyra Shimulunas; one brother: Gerald Biel, Two Rivers; and a very special friend: Bernice Sinkula, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was further preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Anton and Alma Michalek; and two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Evelyn (Lester) Musil and Delores Biel. Cremation has occurred at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Luke Tembreull. Burial of Joan's cremated remains will take place at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
