Janet was the daughter of James Harris & his wife Mary McIllhenney. Born in Ireland, she came to America with her parents & first settled in Pennsylvania. It was there in Lancaster County that she married James McCall, Sr. in 1738. They had 7 children together; 5 born in Pennsylvania & 2 born in Virginia. Sometime after their youngest child was born, Janet & James McCall moved to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. They lived there for the rest of their lives. And in 1794 at about age 69, Janet passed away; being survived by 6 of her 7 children.

3. Thomas Harris McCaule (1744-1796)
4. Rachael McCall (1746-1821)
5. Nancy Agnes (McCall) Alexander (1753-1827)
