Theodore A. Schmidt, 87
, of 2213 School St., Two Rivers, retired cement contractor and earlier a longtime cement finisher for Streu Construction Co., Two Rivers paving firm, died Monday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where he was a patient for more than five weeks.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers and at 2 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. T.F. Stern officiating. Burial will be in Pioneers' Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt was born Dec. 14, 1876, in the Town of Two Rivers, son of the late Edward and Minnie Koch Schmidt. He married the former Emma Messmann in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, June 17, 1911. After marriage the couple settled on a farm at Stetsonville, Wis. In 1919, the family returned to Two Rivers
where Mr. Schmidt became engaged as a cement finisher, working several years out of Chicago with Schmidt Brothers Construction Co. He later became employed by the Streu paving firm in operations on highways throughout Wisconsin. In later years he built concrete sidewalks at Two Rivers until his retirement a few years ago. His wife died at Two Rivers March 2, 1960.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Earl Bruechert, of Rt. 1, Kewaunee, and Miss Ethel, of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Christ, of Two Rivers; a grandson, Dale Bruechert and three great grandchildren. A son, Harry, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
