Martha Brown Turner, 80, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in an automobile accident near Teague. Visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery prior to the graveside services at 2 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin. Bro. Don McLeod officiated. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Martha was born in Humble, Texas, to the late Howard and Fannie Brown, and lived there most of her life. She married Byron Turner on June 27, 1953. Her parents founded the Pecan Valley Ranch near Cotton Gin and she and her husband bought land next to the ranch and spent weekends at the house in Cotton Gin and weekdays in Humble until 2002 when they moved to Cotton Gin permanently. She loved growing flowers, especially roses, and a vegetable garden, then sharing her produce with friends. Martha also enjoyed playing bridge with friends for many years.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Brown, Jr., and Michael Brown.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Byron Turner; daughter, Melanie Ann Turner, both of Cotton Gin; brother, Larry Brown and wife, Kathleen, of Mexia; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. X21
