Born on February 8, 1923 in Rigby, Idaho, "Gene" was a classic example of The Greatest Generation. He served a full tour as a radio operator and bombardier on a B-24 bomber in World War II, earned degrees in History and Mathematics at the University of Idaho through the GI Bill, taught high school for many years, and then worked as a probation officer for the County of San Diego for over 20 years.
His marriage of 65 years was briefly interrupted on January 7th when the love of his life, Marjorie, preceded him in death. They are now reunited. His first words to her were probably, "Marjorie, where have you been!?"
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind-hearted and generous man who cared deeply for his family and the lives of the needy and less fortunate.
