Edgar F. Charles, Jr., 63, R.R.4, Georgetown, Del., former resident of Shippensburg where he served several terms on Shippensburg Borough Council, retired employee of Conrail, died unexpectedly the evening of Dec. 26, 1981, in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born in Wilmington, Del, Dec. 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Edgar F. Sr. and Florence Waldman Charles.
Mr. Charles came to Shippensburg in 1953 as a station agent for the former Pennsylvania Railroad and worked in the Shippensburg and Carlisle areas for Pennsylvania and Penn Central Railroads until 1970 when he returned to Delaware.
He was a member of Shippensburg Presbyterian Church, transferred to Second Presbyterian Church of Carlisle and most recently was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. He served all three churches in numerous official capacities.
While living in Shippensburg, he had been a member of Cumberland Valley Lodge No. 315, F & AM; Harrisburg Consistory and Shippensburg Lions Club.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. A. Louise Bryan Charles; two daughters; Mrs. Michael (Gail) Bucher, R.R. 1, Aspers; Mrs. Richard (Ellen) Kling, 9858 McCreary Road, Shippensburg; a son, William R. Charles, Lewisville, Texas, and four grandchildren.
Services will be held in Georgetown with the Rev. Donald Boardman officiating, and
Burial in Barretts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Kent County, Del.
