Frank J Burke of 619 North Second street, one of the owners of the Monmouth Dairy and Ice Cream company and a well known business man, died at Monmouth hospital Sunday morning at 10:25 o'clock at the age of 62 years. His health had been failing the past few months but he was suddenly taken ill about 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon when he was taken to Monmouth hospital. He remained in a coma state not regaining consciousness before his death. All possible was done for Mr. Burke but to no avail, the end coming yesterday morning. The deceased was a son of Patrick and Margaret (McFadden) Burke and was born in Lancaster, Pa., on Feb 23, 1872. He died at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage to Frances Charles at Marysville, Mo., in 1894. Surviving Mr. Burke are his widow, three sons, John, Paul and Francis, a granddaughter, Rosemary Burke, who has always made her home with her grandparents, two grandsons Keith Burke of Monmouth and Francis Burke of Boone, Ia., and five brothers, John, Dan, Edwin, Andrew and William Burke all of Lancaster, Pa. His parents, two brothers James and Ambrose, and a sister, Mary preceded him in death, Besides his immediate family Mr. Burke leave several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and associates who deeply feel is passing. Mr. Burke began his business career thirty years ago establishing an ice cream business in Sterling, Ill., with the late Samuel A. Charles. Later they located in DeKalb, Mendota and Kewanee and Marshalltown and Boone, Iowa. He established his business in Monmouth nine years ago. A Veteran in the ice cream trade Mr. Burke had built up a large business during his residence here. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception church, the Knights of Columbus lodge at Sterling, he Elks lodge at DeKalb, the Illinois Mild Dealers Association and the Ice Cream Association of Illinois. Funeral services will be held from the Immaculate Conception church Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock. {unknown newspaper obit}
