CLIMBING HILL, Iowa -- Duane "Tiny" Baird, 74, of Climbing Hill died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 7 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with Galen Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Duane "Tiny" Baird was born April 9, 1932, the son of Vern and Alice (Smith) Baird. He was raised and attended school in the Climbing Hill area, graduating from Climbing Hill High School.
He married Glady Frisbie on Sept. 10, 1955, in Sioux City. Together they farmed near Climbing Hill. Glady died Jan. 1, 2002.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and had served on the Woodbury Central School board. He had been a Westfork Township trustee. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's activities and hunting.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Angela and Roger Price of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Michael and Linda (Geary) Baird of Moville, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Ramon Martinez, Katie Docken and her life partner, Dianna Dockery, Annie and her husband, Daniel Middleton, Amanda Docken and her fiance, Tarrance Moon, Matthew Baird, Laura Baird, Audrey Baird, Courtney Baird, Brook Baird and Anthony Baird; five great-grandchildren, Brianna Martinez, Isabel Martinez, Ramon Martinez III, Sean Middleton and Conner Moon; a brother, Kenneth Baird of Moville, Iowa; nieces, nephew and other relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glady; his parents; and a brother, Donald Baird.
