Orval Warren Cauthon May 9, 1916 - Oct. 13, 2006 Orval Warren Cauthon, born May 9, 1916 in St. Clair County, Missouri, the eldest of nine children, passed away October 13th 2006. After serving in the Army and earning a Master's degree, he resided in Bakersfield for the last 58 years and retired as Superintendent in the Edison School District in 1983 after 35 years of service. He was a valuable community member actively involved with the First United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Association of California School Administrators, California Retired Teachers Association, North Bakersfield Parks & Recreation, and Sons in Retirement. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Ervin Cauthon and Vida Glaser, and his wife Caroline Cauthon of Lamar, Missouri. He is survived by their son, Chuck Cauthon and his wife, Liz of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Misty Barron and Dustin Cauthon, also of Arkansas; six siblings, Vera Estes, Sara Howerton, Juanita Howe, Grace Bausch, George Cauthon, and Richard Cauthon; nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Viewing begins today Tuesday, October 17th, from 4-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Funeral services will be October 18th, at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Hillcrest. After a brief graveside service, friends will be received at Orval's home.
